Ben Murray High Eden Riesling

(0)

This Riesling comes from ground zero for fine Australian Riesling, the High Eden subregion. Home to Mountadam and a handful of growers, High Eden is known for its hard, ancient rocky soils – a dry, cold part of the Barossa that produces achingly intense wines. I’d not heard of Ben Murray though, and it turns out this label is a joint venture between Dan Eggleton, the ex-Creed Wines winemaker and Seguin Moreau oak salesman, and wine importer Craig Thompson. Their Riesling is a stunning wine too – a wild fermented, whole-bunch-pressed and unfined beauty that flows with the delicious honeyed biscuity edges of a mature, dry Riesling, but backed by this unmissable slatey dry palate. Fully mature, yet with the structure to last for plenty of years yet, it’s exactly what good aged Eden Valley Riesling should taste like. White – Riesling
