Golden Promise is an old traditional barley. It fell out of favour when more efficient barley strains emerged. As part of the Origins series Benromach returned to the rich Golden Promise barley. The result is a powerful whisky bottled at 50% alcohol. Lemon, apples, sultanas on the first nosing, then vanilla, toasted malt and a subtle smokiness. The palate offers smoke, spice and pepper but underneath there is are lovely peach and red apples with a chilli finish.
