Château Gruaud Larose Saint-Julien 2010 (In Any Six Price)

(0)

Chateau Gruaud-Larose has long been considered a gate-keeper of one of St Julien’s most formidable cellaring wine styles – a wine that in youth needs time to mesh, but with maturity soars. The estate is competently managed by noted winemaker and grower Georges Pauli and consists of some 84 hectares of vines. Dense gravel soils hold mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, but Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are also planted alongside. This is a full-bodied, full-throttle release set firmly in the vin de garde mould in which cellaring is nearly essential – here, a spell of a decade should serve the wine well, and it will mature well for thirty years.
