Pichon-Longueville’s second wine, Reserve de la Comtesse is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot with the remaining portion Petit Verdot. The fruit for this wine occupies a lesser-portion of the estate than the premier wine, but is carefully selected based on soil type and appropriateness to wine. First produced in 1973, 2010’s version of the wine is a stellar effort, approachable and yet bound to improve over the next decade.
