Surprisingly, this is quite a medium-bodied cab sav at 13.5% alcohol, plus it has seen a generous amount of oak with 18-months spent in barrel. It’s a nice departure from the usual butch wines of the region, and this one is all class with appealing smells of hedgerow berries, raspberries, tobacco and mocha. The palate is elegant and tight, with a juicy plum centre, licks of toast and coffee, fine and slinky tannins, and a long, sultry finish. This will cellar for a few more years, or will be great with a medium-rare steak tonight. Red – Cabernet Sauvignon and Blends – Cabernet Sauvignon
