Domaine d’Eugénie estate was born following the acquisition of Domaine René Engel by François Pinault in 2006. Frederic Engerer, the successful president of Chateau Latour, also manages production at this fine Burgundian Domaine, aided by technical manager Michel Mallard.
The wines undergo a cold maceration before alcoholic fermentation and gentle extraction of the skins. Ageing then follows for 12 months for the villages and 15 for the Premier and Grand Crus.
Red and black cherry with lots of spice. A more modern styled Grand Cru, but unmistakably Grand Cru in its weight and length. This hasn’t shut down at all since release and should continue to evolve in more interested and finessed directions over the next couple of decades.
