When you see the term Syrah instead of Shiraz you can tell that the winemaker is trying to recreate an old world style of wine and not the typical blockbuster Australian style. Hardly surprising to find out that winemakere Gilles Lapulus is from France and his version of Australia’s favourite red, is inspired by the wines of the Rhone. It’s earthy with pronounced redcurrant and raspberry, some spice and a savoury intensity. Nicely textured with good fruit, spice and tannin harmonising well with the natural acids.
