Big and bold – as you’d expect from the Vale – this has layers of plush blackberry and leafy varietal fruit, now lifted by some cedary, cigar box aged complexity. It is at the absolute peak of its powers, but with plenty of tannins left to ensure it will get even better over the next decade. Mature McLaren Vale Cabernet does not get much better than this.
