2013 HAAN WINES MERLOT PRESTIGE     GRAPE VARIETIES:         100% Merlot   VINTAGE:                            2013   REGION:                              Barossa Valley   TYPICAL ANALYSIS:       15% Alc/vol   OPTIMAL DRINKING:     Although this wine is released with quite some drinking readiness, it will develop further with additional bottle age and will show extremely well at around 8 to 10 years of age.   COLOUR:                              Deep cherry and plum colours     BOUQUET:                          The aroma is characterized by black cherries and ripe plums with a hint of spicy toasted oak   PALATE:                              Abundant soft tannins give the wine length and persistence, while the plum and cherry fruit flavours complement the rich oak component   VITICULTURE:                  Low yielding fruit grown on Haan Estate vineyard   WINEMAKING/MATURATION:                Fermented  using  a  selected  yeast  to  enhance the fruit characters.  After malolactic fermentation the wine was racked into French oak barriques and allowed to mature for 24 months before bottling.   FOOD MATCHES:             Quail, duck, venison
