La Purisima ‘Estio’ Northern Spain Macabeo Blanco

(0)

Here we have a white wine made from the native Macabeo (also know as Viura) grape that has seen a bit of ‘old school’ Spanish treatment due to what they call oxidative handling, which can give the wine a character of brown apples. However, it only shows subtly in this one as there are plenty of tropical and citrusy smells on the nose, plus some appealing pears and nuttiness. The palate is edging towards medium-bodied, with those citrus and pears coming through in the flavours, a nice, rounded, almost talcy mouthfeel, and some apples and nuts on the decent, bright finish. Excellent with grilled white fish. White – Other Whites – White
