In true McLaren Vale style, this is quite a ‘butch’ shiraz that has seen some generous oak. Deep, dark fruits climb out of the glass to tackle the nostrils, along with whiffs of chocolate, toast and coffee. The palate is fullsome and curvaceous, with a spiced plummy centre, approachable tannins, and a sweetly-fruited, toasted cedar finish. It will kick on for a couple of years in the cellar, or will go well with the Sunday roast. Red – Shiraz and Blends – Shiraz
