Meao ‘Meandro’ Douro Tinto

(0)

Meao (pronounced ‘meow’) is the cats whiskers as far as Portuguese reds go. Made from native grape varieties, it’s a medium-bodied style that can show it’s oak when young. This 2010 version shows rich smells of dark cherries, cranberries, slight purple florals and a hint of crushed leaves on the nose. The palate is deep and darkly-fruited, with a solid line of tannins, bright acidity, and a taut elegant finish. It needs a couple more years in the cellar, or a really good decant. Red – Other Reds
