Meerea Park Shiraz Alexander Munro 750mLSituated on Palmers Lane in Pokolbin, the ‘Leonard Estate’ vineyard is the Shiraz source for this wine. The vines are well established and mature, having been planted in the mid 1960s.Hand picked fruit, 50% with stems retained, was crushed into open vats and plunged twice daily to optimize flavour and tannin extraction. The wine was then lightly airbag pressed and transferred into French oak barriques of which 50% were new. After 18 months of maturation the wine was lightly egg white fined and then bottled with moderate filtration. 2017 was a great vintage for Shiraz. Very hot days in February ensured maximum ripeness was achieved. Bigger styles for the Hunter than usual, but will reward those who are patient.
