Roland Velich appreciates great sites in the southern stretches of the Burgenland region, especially those planted with Blaufrankisch more than 100 years ago. Using techniques seen more in Burgundy than Austria, the project is responsible for some of Austrias most exciting red wines. This comes from old vines in Neckenmarkt and has tremendous density and fruit weight, with cooking spices, tobacco and dried herbs building complexity. Lively acid and affirming tannins lend it great structure.
