This high-scoring wine is truly something worth savouring on a perfect weather day.Vineyards and Winemaking: The Mount Mary Chardonnay does not undergo malolactic fermentation. The local climate leaves the fruit with ideal acidity when it is picked. It is matured in 30% new French oak barriques with the remainder in older barrels and large casks (1500L). The entire production is barrel fermented. Grape solids are included to give the wine texture, and lees stirring is conducted to add complexity and body. It is then matured in barrel for 11 months prior to bottling.Tasting Notes: This golden chardonnay has elements of stone fruit (nectarine), grapefruit and toasty oak. A wine with tremendous length and structure.Cellaring: Drink Mount Mary Chardonnay 2013 now, or cellar for 5 to 10 years.
