This Chardonnay from Ocean Eight got us excited and it’s hardly a surprise that winemaker Mike Aylward visited Burgundy to learn a few tricks before his first vintage. It’s also a classic case of the region providing the reason as Chardonnay in the Mornington Peninsula is coming of age. The fruit here is in the citrus and grapefruit spectrum with barrel characters of nuts and spice. It’s refined and finessed finishing with impressive natural acids.
