Chateau Clinet was an overlooked Pomerol producer, but various factors, including the appointment of heralded consultant winemaker Michel Rolland, the efforts of proprietor Jean-Michel Arcaute and a shift to later harvesting and use of 100% new oak, have resulted in wines that are now considered a higher class amongst peers. Chateau Clinet is only a 9-hectare estate, with wines that are regularly compared to the powerhouse producers of Bordeaux. Increasingly lower yields have contributed to a wine of richness, power and formidable length, which should be left for just under a decade, or cellared for up to 30-or-so years.
