The reds of Priorat can be quite monstrous, but this one from Portal del Priorat is surprisingly elegant, and doesn’t have a mountain of oak over the top of the fruit. It’s a more modern style of Priorat, and shows smells of raspberries, black currants, pepper spice and subtle mocha on the nose. The palate is medium to fuller-bodied (14% alcohol), with some lush tastes of cherries, red berries and smoky savouriness, some appealing smooth tannins, and a juicy savoury-edged finish that will see it
