Made from Portuguese native grapes, this is quite a ballsy style compared to the usual restrained elegance of other Portuguese reds. There’s plenty of ripe, dark berries, plums and exotic spices on the nose, whilst the palate is fuller-bodied and sweetly-fruited with plummy, almost pruny, flavours, a good lick of baked spices, solid tannins, and a rich, fruity finish.
