Carmenere is the dark and swarthy cousin of Cabernet. It’s from the same family although Carmenere has even thicker skin and a notorious South American accent. It also has to be the signature grape of Chile, and mixes up red fruits and spice to make for a wine that is rounded and complete with integrated tannins.
