The Château de Malle was owned for three centuries by the Lur Saluces family, who also happened to be the previous owners of Château d’Yquem – handy provenance. The estate of Château de Malle is now owned by Comtesse de Bournazel who has seen the fine-tuning of the complex wines of her estate. The wines are produced from predominately Semillon with a lesser portion of Sauvignon Blanc, hand-picked in tranches before being fermented and sent to mostly old oak barrels for 30 months maturation. The powerful, rich Sauternes that results is imbued with a sandalwood-like complexity and yet retains great vitality.
