Hats off to Col McBryde, Jen Gardner and Nic Bourke, who in 2005 set about delivering a set of charming and charismatic South Australian wines produced in small regional batches to showcase their quality. The wine shows lively citrus and grapefruit aromatics, coupled with almond notes. Medium bodied, with textural character from barrique use, combined with the fresh and vibrant fruit from the Adelaide Hills, with lifted and persistent citrus and stonefruit. This is a great example of the new age of Australian Chardonnay – modern, vibrant, textural – and utterly delicious.
