Winemaking:
100% hand picked Bastardo on 6 Mar 2019. De-stemmed and pressed, with overnight juice settling. Fermented and matured in a combination of aged french oak. Bottled in March 2020.
Tasting notes:
Bastardo originated in the Jura region of Eastern France, where it is known as Trousseau. Much more widely grown in Portugal under various names including Bastardo. In the Douro region it is used in Port blends or in red wines either as a varietal or in blends. Our Bastardo has full fruit intensity with tones of blackberry and mulberry. Medium body in comparison to a Pinot Noir with a little more grunge.
