Wirra Wirra have a fine tradition of quirkiness thanks to the eccentric founder Greg Trott. This wine tips its hat to the legacy left by Trott and the massive post and rail fence that greets visitors as they visit the winery. Nothing quirky about the wine though, which illustrates the essence of McLaren Vale Shiraz with black fruit, cinnamon and chocolate before a complex array of plum fruit, dark chocolate and succulent, mouth-filling tannins. It’s hearty and wholesome so would go even better with a big steak. Red – Shiraz and Blends – Shiraz
