Your new summer companion from Matilda Bay Brewing Co. Originally released in 1987, under the name Summer Weizen, this incredibly popular but unpronounceable wheat beer was soon re-christened Redback. This rendition of Redback has been revamped for modern palates, traditional with a twist. Striking the balance between a sparkling Summer Ale and a Belgian Wheat Ale, our revamped Redback delivers a smoothly sessionable experience from start to finish. Aroma is mandarin rind and floral spice with underlying fruit, a hint of hop spice and a slightly biscuity malt tone. Palate is creamy, soft yet firm; balancing lovely lemon curd and earth fruit notes to produce a well-balanced mild palate with high drinkability. Finishes very crisp and extremely fresh.Tasting Notes:A smoothly sessionable experience from start to finish. Enjoyed preferably with a sea view – there was a reason that Redback was commonly served alongside buckets of prawns in Freo in the 90’s. Also goes perfectly with easy Italian dishes: risottos or tagliolini with herbs, fresh cheeses and even simple desserts like fruit tarts or pastries.
