Mortlach is one of seven distilleries around Dufftown. One of the few distilleries allowed to keep producing during World War II. G&M still hold Mortlach distillation from these years. It is one of a handful of whiskies that can withstand long ageing in oak. Sweet and fruity nose. Sultanas, vanilla and Sherry. A hint of peppermint and a very delicate smoke note emerges. Hints of black pepper and nuts. A fruitiness also emerges. Very creamy with a distinct cocoa element. A very slight presence of aniseed. Mouth coating. One of the most complex Speyside Malts – an after dinner dram.
